HTML Sucks (or, making a new layout .. sucks) ..

I like my new layout. I like my newfound knowledge of HTML, thanks to my friend Linds over at Horoko.net. I don't like the crap I had to go through to get the new layout I like, and to learn my newfound knowledge of HTML. I decided to let out all my pent up frustration in a subject you could care less about, through one of my "weekly/monthly/whenever the hell I feel like it" rants.

First, I should explain something before I continue on. As you can tell by my mediocare abilites as a webmaster, my photoshop skills are sub-par at best (trust me, I've seen much better). Also, my HTML skills are on the level of retardation. That's right, folks .. When it comes to coding, I get the safety scissors, and "speshul" helmet. Not to mention a ride home on the short bus, tee-hee.

Until now I did what I could, with what I had. What I have is Homestead, which you probably know from when the site first started (why am I acting as if I have loyal followers to my site?). Homestead, much akin to AOL's Easy Designer feature is a do-it-yourself, drag-and-drop, for lazy ass web designers type of program. It was nice in the fact that you could know diddly-squat about HTML, JavaScript, Flash, HTMLScript, JavaFlash, HTFlashJava, and all that other mumbo jumbo, and still produce some awesome stuff with Homestead's SiteBuilder program.

So it came to be, staring at my site one day wondering what other type of content I could add that would be viewed by tens, of .. tens of people. I realized that, while in appearance my site may have been spiffy-clean, it was behind the times. Why was it behind the times, you say? Well, it didn't have iFrames .. (dramatic music should play here, just picture it in your head).

iFrames, you ask (stop asking me stuff)? Well, my site always had a trusty, frame-style navigation menu, but I did not know the HTML for such nifty features. So, when you click a link, the entire page reloads, yay! My friend, Linds, brought this up, and further sparked my insecurities about the website. So, with her help, I treaded into the realm of HTML.

I would not call it pleasant. For such a little piece of HTML, I had the worse time trying to figure crap out. Yet, after three days of hard-work, and toiling, I was able to produce this awesome (at least in my eyes, and my ability) layout, that is completely different from my previous endevours.

Now you're saying "this is not much of a rant," which I would respond .. It isn't. Just a release to end the creative process on what took a long time to make for me. I am proud of the fact that I can offer so much Gallon related media to all five of you out there that are a fan of his. I know that he is not the most popular of the Darkstalkers, and that far greater characters deserve shrines, but this is a small triumph for me.

With the creation of this website, I have become rather good friends with TalbainEric, who donates art to my site with a rather frequent pace. He runs a not-to-shabby Talbain & Cammy shrine, too. I've come to meet other Talbain fans that have thanked me for making something like this for good ol' Gallon (he really does deserve it). I will try my hardest to keep with this site in the days, months or years to come. I hope it blossoms more than it already has.

Now, enough with the Academy Awards speech. I put my hardwork into the site, and I hope you appreciate it. Gallon is my favorite character from .. Well, from anywhere. I hope this site gets stuffed in people's favorites area, and checked on regularly for Talbain related goodies. It really is my pleasure to make this site, and see it prosper. It may not be the biggest website, or get the most hits, but .. Just like my HTML and Photoshop abilities .. It is good at what it does, and that is that, damnit.

Until my next useless, and unwanted rant .. I remain ..
