CAPCOM Cares? (the release of CAPCOM's comic line) ..

So it seems that CAPCOM actually does care about the fans they have in some way. With the recent news of their comic line, it has brought a real excitement in me. Dreamwave Productions is bringing us five of CAPCOM's franchises this September. Devil May Cry, Maximo, Rival Schools, MegaMan and most importantly .. DARKSTALKERS!!

That's right, a Darkstalkers comic is going to be released here in the United States. From the line-up they have, it seems that it won't be a flop! Another great thing! With writers like Brian Augustyn and Beau Smith, and artists like Pat Lee, Lou Kang and Hyung-Tae Kim, it really does seem like these will be sure-fire hits!

This new run of comics brings about the old things that almost every fan of CAPCOM says, do they care about us? I think so, they may not show it they way they should, but they do care. You also have to understand that they are a business, and will do what is good for the business. We hardcore fans only make up a small portion of the market, and if they were to only cater to our needs, then they would lose money. If they lost money, then there would be no more CAPCOM. Now who would want that?

I am glad CAPCOM has taken the initiative with Darkstalkers, since it is such an underlooked series, and far better than their others in my own opinion. I know there will probably never be another game devoted to the series, and that the characters will remain in their typical cameo roles. However, the release of a Darkstalkers comic could breathe new life into the series. This could mean that more Darkstalkers merchandise could hit stateside, which would be a huge plus in my book.

I guess what I am trying to say, is that there is a means to the end. CAPCOM makes it money, and on occassion will make a fan blissfully happy. Most of the time, they disappoint the majority of it's hardcore fans, but we always come back for more, don't we? CAPCOM cares, otherwise they wouldn't do this. Except you have to realize they care about both their fan's happiness, and the money they make. Without either, there could be no CAPCOM. Cut them slack, and realize that there is always a means to the end.
